Ukraine: DDoS attacks on government and bank websites

While the entire world holds its collective breath on the possible Russian army attack on Ukraine and the ripple effects which are bound to occur, Ukraine was under a DDoS attack on Tuesday, February 15.

The outage impacted the websites of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry and the Armed Services. The websites of two of the largest Ukrainian banks, Privatbank and Oschadbank, faced an outage lasting for several hours as well. The Ukraine government has stated that the outages were the result of an organized distributed denial of service attack, DDoS.
The official Twitter handle of the Defence of Ukraine tweeted:

While these short-lasting cyberattacks did not cause extensive financial and operational losses, their psychological effect should not be discounted, given the current tense situation in the region.

Cyber warfare is real.
